IF YOU LIVE ON A MILITARY BASE OF ANY KIND PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR BASE ADMINISTRATION CONCERNING BREED RESTRICTION POLICIES. MOST DON'T ALLOW AMERICAN PITBULL TERRIERS OF ANY KIND.
**Here in Abilene, TX Restrictions at Dyess AFB include a limit of two pets per household. Dyess AFB follows the approved Air Force Pet Policy, established in May 2011, which prohibits all Pit Bulls (American Staffordshire Terriers, English Bull Terriers), Rottweiler's, Dobermans, Chows and Wolf Hybrids or any mix breed of these dogs.
We are a small kennel located in Abilene, TX. We have owned pit bulls now for 7 years, and due to the over population of the mixed breeds and the stereotyping that's happened in the last several years we only breed on occasion. As a certified kennel with the American Pit Bull Registry, our goal is to positively promote the true, full blood, American Pit Bull Terriers. We only breed for personality, temperament, and the over all family pet. We do not breed for conformation, although all of our adults and puppies produced fit breed standard perfectly. We specialize in solid white, piebald, and extreme piebald, with the occasional black brindle and also merle.
I am a veterinary technician and have worked with all different types of dogs now for 6 years. All of which have their own breed specific traits and characteristics. Of all the animals that come through our clinic every day NEVER ONCE has a pit bull given us something to worry about when it comes to handling them. With that said, I firmly believe it takes a special kind of person to own a bull breed of any type. It takes a little getting used to when every corner you turn people are automatically scared of 'your best friend'. Stopping and staring, pointing and whispering. Second guessing whether or not they should walk passed you or go another route. And heaven for bid the massive 'beast' at the end of your leash make too quick of a movement, or even lay eyes on them. Whether we like it or not the general public will not want you attending their events with a pit bull by your side. And the majority of people WILL show fear at first sight.
